MIKE FOREST FINISHES FOURTH AT LAGUNA

Jul 14, 2011
Monterey, California – July 13th, 2011 – For the second race in a row in the GRAND-AM Rolex
Sports Car Series Mike Forest and his Starworks Motorsport teammate Ryan Dalziel were involved
in controversial incidents in which their #8 Miracle Grout Shield was punted out of a podium finish in
the closing laps of the race by the #10 car driven by Max Angelelli. The two almost identical incidents
happened first at Road America a couple of weeks ago, with the second one was this weekend at the
Continental Tire Sports Car Festival Powered by Mazda in which the #8 DP car crossed the finish line in
fourth, giving Forest his fourth top-four finish of the season.

Forest started the race from the tenth spot on the grid at the picturesque 2.238-mile, 11-turn Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca road course and slowly started picking his way through the DP field. The
Canadian kept a quick pace throughout his stint and completed a total of 29 laps before handing over
the car to Dalziel solidly in seventh position. Dalziel continued moving the #8 car up the charts and was
involved in an intense battle for second and third place on the podium until two laps to go when he was
hit for the second race in a row by Angelelli at the famed Corskcrew corner forcing him to settle for fourth.
For a few seconds there was hope as a drive through penalty was issued to the #10 for the contact,
but it was never served and the results stood after the checkered flag dropped. The team is awaiting a
clarification from the series.

“It has been a very difficult two weeks for us to say the least. Obviously after what happened at Road
America we were frustrated to be the victims of an incident like that and lose the podium finish, but we
decided to keep our heads down and just focus on the next race. In what seemed like a déjà vu moment
we found ourselves once again a few laps from a podium finish after a great race by the Starworks
Motorsports team with Angelleli behind us and once again he hit us and took the spot from us.

It’s not only a frustrating situation but its also dangerous knowing that every weekend this can happen.
We’ve proven that we are a top running team and that we can fight for wins out there so hopefully we can
get things sorted and get back out there and race fair.”
